Displays are already there, but are they being used correctly?
Many stores already have digital displays. They may be cycling through the same advertisements day after day, played from a USB stick, with no ability to respond quickly to fast-changing situations. In the worst case, they are showing outdated campaign material because updating is cumbersome and time-consuming.
This is not a technical problem — it is a software problem, and software problems are solved by, naturally, better software.
